For some reason, the petite padded T-back bra from Wacoal is not listed on their company website. I really hope it isn’t being discontinued, because I only have two of this style and I wear them all the time. They’ve already lasted several years, but at some point I expect I will need replacements. This is my ideal bra, an intimate essential as important as a great pair of undies: simple and streamlined — I don’t like a lot of fussy details, little bows and other such nonsense — but still beautiful… and somehow really comfortable. I even wrote an Amazon review of my beloved Wacoal #75317.

Front Close Racerback Padded Bra by Wacoal

If you’re a size AA or even an A cup, you may have noticed (as I have) that the “support” issue doesn’t really apply to you. I have no idea what it feels like to have a big old pair of bouncy, floppy, heavy, damn sexy breasts that require harnessing. To me, a bra is mostly about nipple coverage. Wires and hooks are generally a real pain in my skinny ribcage… so when I find an exception, something with pads and contouring and a convenient front clasp — in other words, the sort of thing a real woman with curves might wear — it’s a pretty itty bitty big deal.

I have noticed several posters mentioning lost favorites. This particular bra was mine. I purchased one, loved it, and immediately ordered five from the same online store. I received an email the next day, which stated that the item was out of stock and would not be replenished because Wacoal had dropped the style. I liked this bra because of the light padding. It helped my clothes fit better while providing the nipple coverage you mention. The t-back took some getting used to, but it was far better than having to hoist fallen straps at work all day long. RIP, Wacoal padded t-back!

Any ideas on how to get Wacoal to bring back the #75317? I’m thinking we could stage a petite public protest… maybe burn a pile of their freaking huge full-figure bras. ;)

I guess we aren’t as lucrative a market as the full-figured crowd. After all, how many times have you gone without wearing a bra at all? It’s sort of optional for us … but the full-figured folks can’t go out in public without extensive engineering support. So, they probably buy more bras than we do. I know I’ve gotten frustrated and gone for a couple of years without buying a new bra. If I was a 40DD, I know I couldn’t get away with that!

Good point. More choices across the entire range of shapes and sizes would be excellent.

Much as we love to hate the lingerie industry for never having bras in our size, only a tiny percentage of women in the United States wear an AA or A cup. I’ve read that the average cup size in the states is now a D, so I’d say the market needs to get with the times and start providing large-breasted women with E, F and G cup bras in pretty colors and flattering styles.
