Amoena is a technologically advanced brand of everyday bras designed for women who have had single or double mastectomy surgery for breast cancer.
But, as I’ve discovered, their designs are also ideal for small-busted women who want a comfortable and secure way to wear gel push-up pads (aka “chicken fillets”).
Amoena bra cups have pockets sewn in, so you can wear breast forms or silicone enhancers without that sweaty, sticky feeling — the pockets protect your skin with a breathable fabric lining.
The Amoena brand carries a wide variety of styles, from soft leisure bras for pure comfort (essential for women who are still healing from surgery) to more fashionable designs that are still extremely comfortable, but also pretty and sexy. The raspberry Lara bra I bought has seamless molded cups for shaping. I got it in a size 32B — about one and a half cup sizes larger than my true size — so I could wear my fake gel boobs inside it.
The verdict: four and a half stars… 5+ for comfort and design, 4 for style. It’s very pretty, but it covers a lot of area and I can’t see myself wearing it with anything low-cut or sleeveless. For now, though, that’s fine — too cold for skimpy clothes anyway. And, wow, I think Wacoal has a new rival for most comfortable bras! This thing feels amazing.
Because this is a full-coverage pocket bra and the cups have plenty of space, it works best with full-cup enhancer pads that cover the entire breast. I wear it with Braza Swim Shaper Au Natural full cup silicone push-up pads.
If you’re not looking to increase your bust size with any sort of padding, Amoena bras are available in AA cups. They’ve also got a few styles with less coverage, which I will definitely be checking out.

Does this bra have pockets for a prosthesis?
Hi Cathy,
Yes — all Amoena bras have pockets in both cups that can accommodate a prosthesis or breast form.
