I do not like to wear underwire bras during the summer. In cooler weather, I like the support and shaping that wires provide, but when it’s ninety degrees in the shade… no thanks.

What is it, exactly, that the world fears will happen if our breasts are left to their own devices… without a harness or a gag? Are our womanly parts really so threatening that the lingerie market can’t even stand to acknowledge us? How sad. They’d profit more if they could adopt a more open-minded perspective.

I think my top choice for staying cool and dry is cotton. However, there are drawbacks to this sturdy natural fabric. For one thing, it doesn’t stretch or flex very well.

A bra made of rayon or nylon/spandex microfiber can be just as comfortable and cool, as long as it is lightweight and free of foam lining. One example is the Cosabella “Never Say Never Sweetie” lace bralette, shown at top left.

New Petite/Girl A-Cup Bra (32A, 34A, 32B) from Calvin Klein

Hi everyone! I know I’m usually against us adults having to shop for bras made for girls or juniors. But, sometimes I need to make an exception. I’m sure you’ll understand once you see this pretty new design out from CK, apparently in a new line for girls and petites. Check it out here:

Calvin Klein Girl Mixalot Bra

Calvin Klein Demi Petite Push-Up Bras

Since it is available only in full cup sizes but with a different title than what was previously Calvin Klein Petites, I will assume this will not be the same bra as was previously sold under Calvin Klein Petites or as Calvin Klein Girl.

I will confirm this in a follow-up comment if and when I hear back from a rep for Calvin Klein.

If these are sized like Calvin Klein Girl, a 34A will fit some 32As. Here is the size AA guide:

34A fits 34AA, 34A, 36AAA.

I have never in my life had an easy time finding clothes that fit properly. I’m built…I don’t really want to say “weird,” because I like how I’m built, it’s just that clothing stores don’t seem to like how I’m built. I’m too tall and gangly, too short in the torso, too long in the arm, and so on. Mostly, through a lot of trial and error, I’ve been able to negotiate truces with several stores that seem to carry at least a few things that fit me well despite my proportional oddities, but not a single truce has been made when it comes to covering my practically non-existent bust.

Which brings me to the crux of the matter. I am not really a petite woman, but my breasts certainly are. I measure at a perfectly comfortable 34 band size, but the “AA” part of my measurement often leads me astray as I’m not actually quite that big. I’ve tried a lot of cup sizes: 34AA, 34A, 32A, 32AA. Some of these work…mostly. But far more often than not, they are not-quite-right: they gap, they slide up, they hang open, they don’t fit. So when I find a bra that fits in the cups and fits perfectly…well, I don’t even know how to react because really, it’s never happened before. Until now.

Wacoal 75830: yay or no way?

I’m always excited when Wacoal introduces a new bra to their excellent Petites line. It was pretty much the highlight of my week when I discovered I could wear a 32B in these!

However, their latest mini boulder-holder looks quite different from the other bras in the petite collection. I haven’t ordered one yet because I’m not sure what’s going on with this thing.

Like most of the Wacoal petite bras, it’s a push-up. The cups resemble Mickey Mouse ears, and that center gore looks like it would sit right on top of my jutting breastbone.

I’d end up with a big old blue-violet bruise in the middle of my chest by the end of the day… not so pretty.

Next time you get thoroughly sick of not seeing any bodies that look remotely like yours in fashion magazines or on television, look to fine art for a reality check. I know next to nothing about the visual arts, but to me this image looks more real than any photograph I’ve ever seen on the cover of a women’s magazine.

I am very excited to tell you a bit about Aerie’s new bra from firsthand experience.

The Mia is a multi-way push-up bra that mixes all the best elements of the Emma and Abigail. Mia features convertible straps that can go 8 different ways: classic, strapless, racer back, halter, v-front halter, v-front classic, 1 cross-strap, and 1 shoulder. Like the Emma, Mia also has removable air pads which give you a “Whoa” level of push (the second-heaviest level of padding that Aerie offers).

My previous favorite bra at Aerie – and the only one I used to be able to wear – was the Abigail. Then we launched the Mia a couple weeks ago. I didn’t think I was going to like it because of the air pads. But I tried it on so I would be able to give customers a good idea of how it fits. This bra fits snug. When I tried on the 32AA (the sister size to my ideal 30A), I actually got that dreaded double-bubble I constantly warn customers about! I don’t think I can accurately convey the ecstasy I felt. I haven’t spilled out of a cup my entire life!

Lula Lu Petites Bra Giveaway

Kira push-up bra by Lula Lu PetitesFor the month of April 2012, we have a beautiful new bra by Lula Lu Petites to give away to one lucky 32AA Bra reader. This bra is available in size AAA, AA and A cups only. Band sizes: 32, 34, and 36.

The Kira push-up style comes in dark purple (shown at left) and black. It has delicate lace trim and pretty embroidery details. The lace is smooth enough that it doesn’t look lumpy under clothing.

The cups have removable push-up pads, and it closes in back with two rows and three columns of hooks. Kira has double stretch spaghetti straps that adjust in back. The straps are fairly wide-set, but the twinned elastic style helps them stay put.

I wear a 32A in this style. It runs a bit wider across the front than Lula Lu’s petite racerback bra, which has a front clasp; in that bra, I find the 34AA fits well on me. It’s only a slight difference, and for the most part I have found that Lula Lu bras run true to size. Check out their bra fitting page to find your best fit.
