The sophisticated and sexy Jennifer bra and hipster set comes in teal satin with black mesh lace overlay, and is available in the following sizes: 32-36 A and 32-38 B, C, D, DD (bra); S-XL (hipster).

The Affinitas Intimates 5511 Jennifer contour push-up is an underwire bra with medium graduated push-up padding built in at the bottom and sides of the cup. This style features a back closure with two rows and three columns of hooks, and breathable stretch mesh nylon sides. The center gore is set low in front to accommodate V-neck tops.

Pretty Summer Lingerie That Breathes

I do not like to wear underwire bras during the summer. In cooler weather, I like the support and shaping that wires provide, but when it’s ninety degrees in the shade… no thanks.

What is it, exactly, that the world fears will happen if our breasts are left to their own devices… without a harness or a gag? Are our womanly parts really so threatening that the lingerie market can’t even stand to acknowledge us? How sad. They’d profit more if they could adopt a more open-minded perspective.

I think my top choice for staying cool and dry is cotton. However, there are drawbacks to this sturdy natural fabric. For one thing, it doesn’t stretch or flex very well.

A bra made of rayon or nylon/spandex microfiber can be just as comfortable and cool, as long as it is lightweight and free of foam lining. One example is the Cosabella “Never Say Never Sweetie” lace bralette, shown at top left.

Blush Lingerie - Dreamgirl push-up bra set

Pure romance.

This is a review of the Dreamgirl push-up bra, by Blush Lingerie. I learned about this company from Avec L’amour, an online intimates boutique with a special category for bras that fit well on small-breasted women. The owner, Lisa, is one of my best resources for information about size and fit — especially for AA and nearly A bras.

She’s the one who recommended I try the Natori Feathers, to which I am now completely addicted. An elegant, sophisticated piece, the Feathers bra fits me perfectly in a 32A — with no gaps in the cups. The Dreamgirl push-up, another of Lisa’s favorites (available for purchase at aveclamour.com), has a similar fit: perfect for the nearly A or fuller AA woman who tends to have trouble filling out standard A-cup bras.

In fact, I would even say this style runs a bit smaller in the cups than the Natori Feathers — but perhaps this is because I’m not used to push-ups. It certainly does its job, as far as providing lift and a bit of a boost in size.

The padding is substantial, but when I’m wearing the bra it does not look fake and does not create a significant change in the lines of my natural silhouette. I think that’s because the cups are spaced fairly wide, so you don’t look or feel squeezed (the all-too-common phenomenon I like to call “boob-smash”).

Japanese Bras From Kaori's Closet

A beautifully designed bra.

Kaori’s Closet is a cute little Japanese lingerie store located in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. Recently, I had a lovely shopping experience at this cozy boutique.

The predominant aesthetic is delicate and very feminine. Kaori’s features bras and lingerie from Japan, but they also carry a few brands that we might be more familar with, including Elle MacPherson and Timpa.

Japanese lingerie tends to run quite small compared to the standard US sizing, which is ideal for those of us who require petite bras.

My favorite bra of the bunch!

Colorful lace and frills are everywhere at Kaori’s Closet. I like this look, but I wasn’t completely sold until I tried on a few of their beautiful bras. The sales associate put on white gloves to measure me, brought several styles for me to try, and helped adjust and fit me into each bra. The service here is fantastic!

My best fit is a Japanese size C65, which is equivalent to our 30C. I ended up taking home four bras from the Japanese brand Narue, all of which make me look and feel amazing.

Review: Honeydew Nightgown

In this post I will be reviewing a beautiful purple nightgown by Honeydew Intimates.

Size Small, 95% Rayon, 5% Spandex

This nightgown is absolutely beautiful.

Yes, I am partial to purple, as it has been my favorite color since I was 7 years old and realized that pink was overrated.

But this nightgown truly exudes royalty and sophistication.

It hits right above my knee. The fabric is very soft and perfect for  summer nights (which is nearly every night as I live in Florida!)

With its lace straps and cute bow in the middle, I feel so feminine when wearing it.

It has adjustable straps which I wear on the smallest option–being so small-chested, it supports me perfectly and provides a very nice shape.

It’s vital that I mention the hook and eye closure feature of this nightgown. I wear it on the smallest hook and it is very comfortable.

I am so grateful that the nightgown has this option! My petite frame normally drowns in anything that is labeled size “small,” and many times even “extra small.”

This nightgown, however, was made for me. (That’s how I feel when I wear it!)
