“If you don’t like what is being said, then change the conversation.”
–Don Draper

UK designer Megan Leung does’t like what is being said to women, so she is changing the conversation with her new label Meg at Midnight. Inspired by a friend who felt it was “embarrassing wearing a training bra and frustrating wearing an adult bra,” Ms. Leung saw a niche that was not properly being filled. Where other brands pack on the padding to disguise an inadequacy, Meg at Midnight celebrates the small with sexy, sheer, and pad-free pieces specifically designed to accentuate the slight figure.

Ms. Leung says: “Meg at Midnight is a designer intimatewear specializing in, but not limited to, the smaller busted woman. Our garments are carefully structured to fit and flatter rather than enhance small breasts. This is done by using a specific underwire (which makes the bras look more “grown up” as compared to a soft bra that often looks like a training bra). The materials as we use at the moment are delicate, which would not be ideal for supporting bigger and heavier busts.”

Love... petite-style!

I heart you.

Valentine’s Day is almost as big a deal as Christmas when you sell (or market, or write about) bras and lingerie. I feel like it has been February 14, 2012 for the past two months. To be perfectly honest, I’m sick to death of it.

But please don’t think this means I don’t love you guys. Hence the impossibly cute picture of little animals cuddling. If this photo doesn’t make you feel all warm inside, you probably have no soul. (But please don’t think this means I… right. Let’s move on, shall we?)

Whether you celebrate the Hallmark holiday or not, have fun. Don’t forget to get yourself a present! Then, come see us over at 32aa Bra’s Facebook page and tell us what you got.

Can’t think of anything you want? Lame. (No, not really. I’m just jealous because I never have this problem.) Here’s an idea: Aerie bras are on sale for 40 percent off today. Take this opportunity to try the new Maddie, their latest push-up. You’ll find a quick review of the Aerie Maddie bra after the jump.

Lingerie expert and author Ali Cudby

Ali Cudby

Ali Cudby, a well-known authority in the lingerie industry, has just published a groundbreaking new book on bras and bra sizing: Busted! The Fab Foundations Guide To Bras That Fit, Flatter and Feel Fantastic. Cudby refers to herself as a “bra coach,” because she believes in a cooperative fitting process that empowers her clients to learn for themselves which brands, sizes and styles work best for their bodies.

In Busted!, Ali Cudby debunks the common bra fitting method of adding four inches to the underbust (ribcage) measurement in order to determine band size. In fact, she says, this antiquated technique is the reason why most women end up wearing bras that are too loose in the band and too small in the cup. The “add four” strategy is almost completely obsolete — and yet, many lingerie companies still train their salespeople to follow it.

Adore Me While I am (arguably) adorable, that is not a command. Adore Me is the latest website to toss its hat garter into the ring of private sale sites. It’s not a flash- or sample-sale site, though, where you have to jump on the deal right away or you lose it. Rather, they offer a personalized selection of bra/panty sets, tights and stockings, and an “accessory” section which consists of less-than-practical evening wear. Overall, the site has a lot of potential. There are some great features, but there are also plenty of pitfalls. We’ll nit-pick the hell out the site but first let’s take a look at how it works. Powerless over lingerie.

This week I’m honored to be talking to Treacle, the charismatic author of one of the best lingerie blogs in the world: The Lingerie Addict.

If you have yet to experience The Lingerie Addiction Phenomenon, be warned: Treacle’s giddy obsession with lingerie, while tongue-in-cheek, is contagious. I think I might have no choice but to give the Cosabella giraffe-print bra another chance.

Interview text (C) by Treacle and Amanda, June 2011. All rights reserved.

Let’s talk about your obsession with leopard print lingerie. What do you love about it?

I love that it’s such a fun and classic print, but just a little bit naughty at the same time. Anne Bancroft and Vanity Fair made leopard print lingerie famous in the 60′s, and it hasn’t really gone out of style since.

What’s your current favorite leopard piece?

My favorite leopard print piece is a vintage Vanity Fair catsuit I bought just a few weeks ago. I don’t have any pictures of it yet, but I’m hoping to get a few during my next photo shoot.

So… remember yesterday when I said these deals don’t happen every day? As fate would have it, the universe is messing with me again and I was apparently mistaken. Here are today’s members-only deals…

Libertine Bra In Black on sale for 54.99

This Libertine Bra, normally $75, is on sale for $54.99 at Beyond The Rack

I’m poor but I still love to shower my wife with lavish gifts, so I’m always on the lookout for a great deal. I’d like to do a regular Deal of the Day type thing, but these deals don’t happen every day. Instead, I’ll post them as soon as I see them and hopefully you can take advantage. Also, I’ll try to focus on good stuff – not “Buy one get one free Hanes bra at Kmart!” You can find that stuff on your own. Rather, I’ll put up the stuff you might miss.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned a deal on Between the Sheets at Zulily. That deal is unfortunately gone, but Zulily has come through again with up to 60% off Sophie B and while they don’t go smaller than a full A-cup bra, they do have some nice cute-sexy chemises and undies.

The other tiny deal today is at Beyond the Rack with bras and panties sets by Chantelle and Passionata. Bra sizes range from 32AA to 36H and undies stretch from XS to 5XL! The discount range varies from product to product but panties are less than $35 (normally $50) and the most expensive bra is $65 (usually $90). I’m kind of partial to the stripey bra to the left, but that’s just me.

Admin edit: Here's my favorite. --Amanda

Again, please note that both of these sites are members-only, but registration is free and no real personal information is collected until checkout. Also, these sales are VERY limited time only or until stock runs out.

Jun 052011

After reading through a few older articles here a while back, I discovered that members-only sites like Ideeli are great resources for saving money on high-end stuff. I immediately sought out and signed up for as many of these sites as I could. (I even found some clothes for myself.) So when I wrote that I was looking for summer birthday gift ideas, Amanda suggested Between the Sheets. Lo and behold, in today’s email, Zulilly, which typically features 90% baby/kids stuff has Between the Sheets lingerie on sale in their Womens section. If you’re not familiar with Between the Sheets, check out Amanda’s article here.

It is worth noting: Registration is required to take advantage of these sites, but registration is free and they don’t ask for any credit card info until you actually buy something.

So the little woman has a summer birthday coming up and I was thinking of an intimate gift that balances sexy, practical, and luxurious. Since she works mostly outdoors in a job that does not allow shorts and makes skirts simply impractical, I was thinking silk undies. So, ladies, what kind of silky treasures would you want for your summer birthday? Leave your suggestions in the comments section. Keep in mind two things: a swimming pool is out of the question and I’m working on a tight budget.

Gracya Carmel braI’ve been drooling over Polish designer lingerie brand Gracya ever since I saw one of their bras on sale in my size online, around Christmas. My very excellent boyfriend tried to get it for me, but they’d run out (he bought the Wacoal Petites strapless push-up instead… in black, with pink ribbon trim. Girly bliss).
